Relations of the central bank to commercial banks Abstract The thesis follows up the relations of the central bank towards commercial banks, with the main emphasis being placed on the Czech Republic, where the role of the central bank is carried out by the Czech National Bank. The main aim of this work is to describe and evaluate the relations between these institutions in terms of current legislation and focus on situations where this legislation does not evolve in the right direction. The first part of the thesis is theoretical and deals with the definition of institutions crucial for the topic itself. By both institutions, commercial banks and the central bank, are emphasized their legal anchoring and their main activities. Within this part, a separate chapter is devoted to the Czech National Bank and its independence, without which CNB would not be able to carry out its activities properly. This part will also analyze the banking system, which represents a summary of banking institutions in a certain state and a summary of individual links between them. The Czech banking system is also introduced here. The next part follows up the regulation and supervision of commercial banks. A separate chapter is devoted to the banking license.

BANK REGULATION FOCUSED ON ENTRY TO THE MARKET
Marková, Lenka ; Mach, Petr (advisor) ; Chytilová, Helena (referee)
Nowadays, the banking is considered one of the most regulated branches of economy. So I decided to write about this kind of regulation. Because this topic is very waste, I will focus primarily on barriers to entry -- the licensing. First of all I will describe the theory of the banking regulation, its objectives and system. And then I will clear out the problematic of licensing in Czech conditions. That means, I will explain how fulfill the requirements so bank obtain this license. Without license the subject can't be considered as a bank. Then will follow the arguments that explain why the entry to this segment is so guarded and regulated. We have to consider also the opposite side of this problematic, because there are opponents of the bank regulation. They criticize the current state in the banking. Their opinions point out the imperfections of the bank regulation and its possible consequences. They will be explained in the rest of the paper.

Medová, Hana ; Burgerová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Jílek, Josef (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the banking regulation and supervision in the Czech Republic and is focused on licensed entry in the banking industry as the basic part of the system of banking regulation and supervision. Attention is devoted to the current legal regulations of banking license including the conditions of its obtaining and the uniform license principle that is applied in the member states of the European Union. This thesis describes also the possibilities of banking license extinguishment. The aim of my thesis is to make an integrated overview of this dilemma and to review the need of regulation arrangement. For that purpose is the last part of the thesis dedicated to the regulation development in the Czech banking system since 1990 until present with the sight on the changes in license administration area.
